My leadership journey began when I was still a teenager. I stumbled across a small book about pursuing excellence. Though I can’t recall its title or author, the lessons stayed with me, sparking a lifelong commitment to self-improvement and professional growth.

Over several decades, I’ve been privileged to lead high-performance teams in diverse roles. Leadership has always felt natural, but that didn’t mean I took it for granted. I worked tirelessly to refine my skills, often through continuing education and professional development.

Growing up in an area with limited access to higher education, I pursued my degrees later in life while managing demanding jobs. Eventually, I became determined to earn a doctorate—not for career advancement, but simply for the joy of learning and the recognition it represented.

However, my perspective shifted when I joined the Chartered Management Institute after completing my MBA. I realised that achieving Chartered Manager status was the gold standard for leaders in the UK. Instead of a doctorate, that became my new goal; the day I earned that recognition was one of my proudest moments.

Through this journey, I’ve gained valuable insights into managing teams, driving change, and the personal fulfilment that comes from leading effectively.
